5 Lions named to top-25 NFL players 25 and under list
The Detroit Lions are an ascending team coming off a division title, but they’ve also got several young standouts that should keep them in contention for years to come.
That’s highlighted by the fact that CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin named five Lions to his list of top-25 players ages 25 and under.
Offensive tackle Penei Sewell came in highest at No. 4; wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was No. 8; defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was ranked 22nd; tight end Sam LaPorta ranked 24th; and running back Jahmyr Gibbs was listed at No. 25.
Also notable: None of those players will even be 25 when the season starts. Gibbs is only 22, LaPorta and Sewell are 23, and Hutchinson and St. Brown are 24.
No other team had more than two players on the list, and the only other players in the NFC North on the list are Justin Jefferson (No. 1), Jordan Love (No. 11) and Christian Darrisaw (No. 23).
Couple their talent with a top-10 coach and you can expect all five to continue ascending and playing key roles for Detroit for a long time.
