Rockets take G Reed Sheppard with 3rd overall pick in 2024 NBA Draft
The Rockets took 20-year-old Reed Sheppard with the third overall pick in the draft. He's regarded as the best shooter in the class.
NEW YORK — With the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Houston Rockets picked Reed Sheppard, a guard out of Kentucky.
Houston held the third pick thanks to the James Harden trade with the Brooklyn Nets and some luck in the NBA Draft Lottery a couple of months ago.
Sheppard, 20, played one season with the Wildcats and was regarded as the best shooter in the class.
The Atlanta Hawks took Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 pick and the Washington Wizards took Alex Sarr No. 2.
Last year, the Rockets finished 41-41. They're looking to improve with a youthful roster full of budding stars.
The Rockets also hold the 14th pick in the second round this year.
