Aldi shopper's 'genius' trolley hack helps you keep up with fast checkout staff

aldi shopper's 'genius' trolley hack helps you keep up with fast checkout staff

Aldi cashiers are known for being super speedy at the tills

If you're an Aldi regular, you'll be well aware of the lightning-fast checkout staff at the store.

The supermarket's checkout system is renowned for its speed, with a seamless barcode scanning process that ensures customers enjoy a quicker shop compared to other grocery chains.

This efficiency is great for many, but it can also be a bit overwhelming for those who might feel the pressure to pack their items quickly to match the cashier's pace. But fear not, as a clever shopper has just shared an Aldi trick that promises to ease your checkout anxiety.

The resourceful customer, known on TikTok as homewithchristina, posted a video demonstrating her shopping technique, which viewers have hailed as "genius". Her simple yet effective method involves placing a laundry basket in her trolley while she shops, which proves incredibly handy when it's time to check out.

Once her groceries are scanned, she swiftly chucks them back into the basket. This smart approach means you don't have to fuss over bringing bags, and also allows you to keep up with the cashier's speed effortlessly.

The video concludes with her wheeling the filled basket to her car, and loading it into the boot. It's straightforward, efficient and has left several people stunned.

One viewer dubbed it the "best idea yet", amazed by the ingenuity, while another confessed they follow a similar strategy, opting to leave baskets in the car and load them post-shop.

A social media user expressed their astonishment, commenting: "Never thought of doing this." Another chimed in with: "Thanks for the tip."

A third person added: "I have two. Every week is breezy." Meanwhile, a fourth also remarked: "Good idea."

Others suggested investing in fold-up baskets to keep in the car at all times, indicating that many will be trying out this clever hack.

As for why Aldi checkout workers are so speedy, there's a method to the madness. The budget supermarket aims to keep costs down, and it claims employing ultra-fast cashiers helps achieve this.

An Aldi spokesperson previously told the Express that staff members are "encouraged to be as efficient as possible", as it helps the brand to keep prices low for customers. They stated: "Our employees are trained to operate the checkout at the appropriate pace for each individual they serve."

Additionally, no time is wasted at the checkouts because cashiers don't have to search for tiny barcodes on products. This is due to multiple barcodes being present on all packaging.

On certain food items like tins, the barcode even wraps all the way around the packaging, making the items much easier to scan. Overall, this allows for a smoother process when you're paying for your shopping.
