‘Ullozhukku’ box office collection day 4: The Urvashi and Parvathy Thiruvothu starrer slows down on its first Monday
Christo Tomy’s directorial ‘Ullozhukku’ featuring Urvashi and Parvathy Thiruvothu in the lead roles hit the big screens on June 21. The film which is receiving an overwhelming response from the audience and critics alike, continues its stronghold at the box office also. On the fourth day, June 24, ‘Ullozhukku’ minted Rs 18 lakh according to a report by Sacnilk.
It is worth noting that the film collected Rs 31 lakh on the opening day, followed by a drastic boom on the weekend, where it collected Rs 52 lakh on Saturday (June 22), and Rs 62 lakh on Sunday (June 23). Despite the heavy rains in the state and June 24 being a working day, ‘Ullozhukku’ managed to pass the Monday test.
By the end of the fourth day, ‘Ullozhukku’ has managed to earn Rs 1.83 crore globally, and the India net collection has reached Rs 1.63 crore.
Starring Urvashi and Parvathy Thiruvothu, ‘Ullozhukku’ also has actors Prashanth Murali, Shebin Benson, Alencier Ley Lopez, and Arjun Radhakrishnan in pivotal roles.
ETimes rated ‘Ullozhukku’ 3.5 out of 5, and wrote, “In how many ways can Urvashi show sorrow? The actress shows her tremendous range, ability to carry a film and screen presence in a story where she is largely required to be a grieving mother. It seems to be a while since Malayalam has had a film driven by such emotional turbulence. It reminds one of ‘80s and ‘90s films directed and written by greats like Padmarajan, Bharathan, Adoor Gopalakrishnan and MT. Ullokuzhukku is definitely a theatre movie, with a story that will leave you stirred and wiping away tears at the end.”
