PETALING JAYA: Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, better known as Altimet, has offered to help Selangor FC pay the RM100,000 fine imposed by the Malaysian Football League (MFL).
“I will donate half of my intellectual property royalties this year to help pay this fine, if Selangor FC is agreeable,” the Lembah Jaya assemblyman said in an X posting.
Earlier today, Selangor FC was fined RM100,000 and docked three points after it pulled out of last month’s Charity Shield match against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) due to safety concerns.
In a statement today, the MFL said the Malaysia Super League game between Selangor FC and JDT at the MBPJ Stadium during game week 14 would be played behind closed doors.
MFL also said Selangor FC would have to compensate JDT and MFL for the financial losses resulting from their withdrawal from the May 10 season-opener at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri.
On May 8, Selangor FC announced it had decided to withdraw from the Charity Shield match due to concerns over a string of attacks against footballers. The MFL cancelled the game the next day.
In a separate X posting, Kota Damansara assemblyman Izuan Kasim also pledged to donate half of his salary next month to help Selangor FC.
“As a true Selangorian, I am willing to donate half of my salary next month to Selangor FC to help with the fine it has to pay,” he said.
