The power of theatre in helping young refugees process trauma
My name is Nariman, my name is Ela Ladin, my name is Chidin Domi. I'm a refugee from Iraq, I'm from Afghanistan. I forced to flee from Kobani because ISIS came. We just asleep on the floor. The floor was very cold. Treehouse Theatre is a trauma recovery program designed to heal refugees. Dash really hates us Kurdish people. You should go back to your country and fight the Taliban. The students initially tell their stories in a very supportive storytelling circle, and those stories we translate into scripts. Keep quiet. I saw people I young, very, very young children around me. They are dying. And they're, they're, they're without their family. I'm so happy now to be in Australia. I'm happy to share my story to you because I want people to understand the Kurdish people. That was a great game, guys. Time for me to go home. We've seen the growth, we've seen the change in these young people. It's just magnificent any way you look at it. There's an incredible healing process that's happening.
