Good luck seeing the sun on the longest day of the year

The longest day of the year is looking like a chaotic one, if the Met Office’s predictions are anything to go by.
Good luck trying to enjoy the summer solstice in the ‘cloudy and breezy’ far northwest where there will be ‘patchy rain’ today.
It’s looking brighter for the rest of the country though, with ‘lighter winds and warm spells of sunshine’.
London will reach highs of 23°C with clear skies for much of the day, but Edinburgh will be cloaked in cloud throughout the day.
There temperatures will rise only as high as 17°C.
But there’s ‘a chance of showers in the extreme southeast later’, according to the Met Office said.
Clare Nasir, a meteorologist at the Met Office, said: ‘I can promise you some warm sunshine.
‘However, this weak weather front will introduce more cloud through the day before it improves later across Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
‘Some brighter skies coming through.’
As the day progresses, she says, ‘Brighter skies emerge across the far north of Scotland, and it’s a fine day across England and Wales, southern parts of Northern Ireland, central and eastern areas of Scotland.
She added: ‘Now through the day, there’s a small chance we could catch a shower across the mountains.’
