In one of the more promising pieces of development to come along in a while, Hulu has ordered Mid-Century Modern, a comedy pilot from Will & Grace duo Max Mutchnick and David Kohan and Ryan Murphy.
Nathan Lane and Matt Bomer are set to star and executive produce the series that will also star Linda Laving. Mutchnick and Kohan will write the pilot while James Burrows will direct. Executive producers include Mutchnick, Kohan, Burrows, Lane, Bomer and Murphy. 20th Television is the studio.

Lane will play Bunny Schneiderman while Bomer will be Jerry Frank. Lavin will take over as Bunny’s mother, Sybil Schneiderman. A successful businessman with one foot in retirement, Bunny is forever in search of love, but he first has to be convinced he’s worthy of it. Like her son, Sybil’s strengths are her weaknesses: wise, caring, and iconoclastic – which sometimes means she’s critical, smothering and amoral. Jerry left the Mormon Church and his marriage in his early 20s after his wife informed him and the rest of the congregation that he was a homosexual. Now a latter-day saint in the literal sense of the term, Jerry is pure of heart. He is also hard of body and soft of head.
Lane is repped by CAA and Anonymous Content.
Bomer is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Gellman, Meigs & Fox.
Lavin is repped by Innovative and Sendoff & Baruch.
Burrows is represented by WME, Bob Broder, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox.
