Celtics fans taunt Kyrie Irving in celebration of NBA championship
The Boston Celtics celebrated their 18th championship on Monday night, taking down the Dallas Mavericks in an 18-point victory.
Fans taunted former Celtics guard Kyrie Irving throughout the series, yelling numerous harsh phrases. The people of Boston took it to another level following the series-ending win, storming the streets outside of TD Garden while chanting "[Expletive] Kyrie."
Irving spent two seasons in Boston, where he averaged 24.1 points and 6.1 assists. His time with the Celtics was brief, as many believe he never hoped to be traded there in the first place. Irving then spent roughly four seasons alongside Kevin Durant on the Brooklyn Nets before landing with the Mavs at last year’s trade deadline.
His opening year in Dallas was lackluster, but the additions of P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford at this year's deadline pushed them over the hump to championship runner-ups.
