Lawyer Danstan Omari and his staff who were in his office when the fire broke said he was aided to scale down from the fourth floor using a redundant electricity pole next to the building.

"We miraculously escaped from the fourth floor after our office caught fire. It is alleged that tear gas was thrown in one of the ground floor shops," Lawyer Danstan Omari told the press.

The building was under renovation and was due for occupation in the coming weeks.
