Rahul Dev on His Encounters with Shah Rukh Khan

Sharing his experience of working in different languages, Rahul told Zoom, "Today things have changed, so it's all the same, frankly. A big regional film or a big film here is a similar experience because everyone comes on time. In the early days, people here were a little lazy, but not anymore. It’s a mix across the country. I think things changed mostly post-lockdown. A lot of people got exposed to good cinema and discovered different languages. For example, Pushpa was a big hit here too, among many others."

Rahul is known for his striking villain roles on screen and has always maintained a good physique. Discussing this, he said, "I go to the beach, train with action masters, and join those classes. I prepare myself to stay in shape. Sometimes, if a film requires horse riding and you don’t know it instantly, you’re having a bit of difficulty. I was lucky to have a mentor, Mukul Anand ji, who guided me. In the beginning, I worked on many action films."

When asked if he had a role he particularly liked, Rahul reflected, "Back then, there was a lot of apprehension about whether you would make it, get work, or build a career in the industry. In that sense, I’m a champion, but when I look back, I see my performances as very immature. That’s quite clear to me now."

Rahul and Shah Rukh attended the same school. Recalling fond memories with him, Rahul said, "We were never friends. He was senior to me, but we interacted on the cricket field. He’s always been very warm in our interactions, and I’m thankful to him."

He added, "Obviously, if someone from your school does well, and achieves great success, you feel proud. It’s a natural human reaction to feel really proud that your school could produce someone like that."
