"We have held talks with Gambhir about becoming the head coach of the Indian team. He will replace the outgoing Rahul Dravid after the T20 World Cup," Dainik Bhaskar quoted a BCCI source, who is privy to the developments, as saying.

Gambhir's demand highlights his clear vision for the future of Indian cricket. Gambhir aims to ensure that his coaching philosophy and strategies are effectively implemented by seeking the ability to choose his support staff.

This move, he believes, is crucial for maintaining coherence and achieving the desired results on the field.

According to the report, Gambhir's demand has been accepted.

Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL 2024 title. After the victorious campaign, Gambhir spoke about taking up the role of India's head coach.

"There is no bigger honour than coaching the national team".

"I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and those across the globe as well," the 42-year-old had said.
