Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visits BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir
Can we come back a bit? Yeah, we won't watch with pride and joy when you and your family, this is also not your first interaction with the Babs Swaminlan community, but it is truly a great privilege to be with you all this evening. And this Mandara stands as a great statement of the contribution that this community makes to Britain. And when I travelled to India for the G20, it was an honour to visit the Akshardham in Delhi. And I know you all walk in the footsteps. My commitment to service. I saw my parents serving their community as AGP and pharmacist, always going the extra mile for their patients. I see all the wonderful philanthropic work that my mother-in-law does in India and my wife is not only the greatest support that any husband could ever have, but also someone committed to a life of service. Now I'm proud to be the first British Asian Prime Minister, but I am even prouder that it is not a big deal. The events of the last few days should not make us forget that the United Kingdom is the world's most successful multi ethnic, multi faith democracy and we should all be uplifted by that. And I promise you that with your support, I will create a secure future for our country where Hindus, Jews, Christians, Muslims, Sikhs and Jains, those of all religions and none feel equally at home, where everyone has the security they deserve. So thank you for all your support. I can only hope that I can make you all proud everyday. Jay Swami Narayan.
