Qatari developer reveals latest $5.5 billion development
What can you tell me about it and what is its overall goal? Well, as you know that we are trying to contribute a lot to the country's overall economy and part of the economy is launching new projects, specifically sharing and partnering with the private sector. So SMESMA is one of the new projects, the future landmark of tourism and and Qatar and the region. So we are talking about 8,000,000 square meter of land size infrastructure that is enabling the the the private sector to come and invest for investors and private sector locally. We are talking about 7 kilometers of of beach with amenities and services, 650,000 square meter of awarded class theme park and, and, and amenities along with the 18 halls, golf course and and luxury Marina and retails. That's on top of the 16 resorts that will be launched purely for the private sector and the foreign investors and the and the project. How do you expect this new project, this mega project to contribute to the Qatari economy and in particular the tourism sector and the infrastructure that goes into the projects? We are trying to to build the platform for the private sectors to come and have their projects successful with the best ROI available. So we are enabling the private sector to to increase the ROI in the in their own projects. So we are building the infrastructure trying to increase the JDP of tourism from 7% to 1213% by 2030. That's following our and in line with our vision. So, so that's the overall expectation on when it comes to the ROI, we are enabling and and and and having the the right platform for the foreign investors and public sectors to come and have a successful project within the Spaceman projects. How do you incentivize the private sector and how do you de risk it in order to be top of the list when it comes to attracting that private sector capital? Very good question, Dan. We are carefully studying each project that's coming up, especially with this size and this huge mega investments. We are complementing what's happening in the region. We are not actually going against certain direction or against certain investments that's happening elsewhere. So we are complementing the the, the touristic sector, the tourism sector within the the region. So the product that we are having here today it's it's, it's not available on any other area in the market with the components that we were talking about the the luxury Marina, Yactic club, the golf, the theme park, all of them and the resorts in the same place. So, so I don't believe that will it will add a value to the to to that sector within the region. On top of that, we are building on a certain facts and figures that we have. We have Qatar Airways, the Hammett International Airport, the top airline, the best business class for the constituency and along with the Hamid International Airport getting around 45,000,000 visitors and passengers on a on annual basis. So we are building in a solid ground of, of, of having the tourism sector to grow along with with the with what's happening in the region. So we're not competing rather than we are complementing and having the new products that's not available in the month.
