Ronaldo's girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez supports star after tears at the Euros

There have been plenty of unexpected moments at the Euros so far and Monday’s game between Portugal and Slovenia even saw tears on the pitch.

Cristiano Ronaldo burst into tears when he missed a penalty for Portugal during extra time in Germany and was comforted by teammates.

In the hours after the game, his girlfriend Georgina shared her support for her partner by posting a picture of him being embraced on Instagram.

She added a red heart emoji above the image, sending her love to the pro player, and also shared a snap of him with a star above the photo.

Georgina and Ronaldo have been together for several years and share two children, Alana and Bella. The couple also share a son called Angel, who was Bella's twin, who passed away during childbirth.

Ronaldo was comforted on the night by his mother Maria who was also seen crying in the stands as her son broke down over the missed penalty.

Drama from the game spilled off the pitch when the BBC was slammed for mocking Ronaldo’s missed shot by calling him ‘Misstiano Penaldo’.

Pundit Gary Lineker shared a Photoshopped image of Ronaldo crying in the background of a famous picture of him and Paul Gascoigne from Italia 90.

Former Chelsea footballer John Terry slammed the BBC for how they covered Ronaldo’s emotional display on the pitch saying it was ‘a disgrace’.

Portugal went on to win the match on penalties, so Cristiano will get to play another game in the tournament which is set to be his last Euros. He told Portuguese media: ’It is, without doubt, my last European Championship.'
