Kaizer Chiefs-bound Nasreddine Nabi officially leaves AS FAR

Incoming Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has officially announced his departure from AS FAR with immediate effect.

This follows the conclusion of the Moroccan domestic season where AS FAR were involved in the Throne Cup final on Monday.

Nabi and his FAR charges came second in that final as they lost 2-1 Raja Casablanca on the night.

Ironically, Raja are the same team that narrowly beat AS FAR to the Botola Pro League title. They are coached by former Orlando Pirates mentor Josef Zinnbauer.

Now, following his latest loss, Nabi announced that he will be vacating his position as AS FAR effective immediately.

Nabi started off by apologising to the club fans for failing to win any piece of silverware during his short stint despite coming close.

The former Young Africans mentor said perhaps the demand was too huge from his players, and that maybe they were exhausted.

Nabi feels it’s time for him to allow a new coach to come in with new ideasnto take AF FAR forward.

“I want to apologise to the fans of AS FAR for failing in a short space of time,” he said in his post-match presser as per iDiski Times.

“We were not able to make them happy by coming second. This is football.

“It was a very strong season for the players. I was asking a lot from them, and perhaps they were tired.”

“It is better for another coach to come with a new ideas.”

JOHNSON MAKES WAY FOR NEW AMAKHOSI COACH

Meanwhile, Cavin Johnson has already left Kaizer Chiefs barely a year after hiring him as Head of Academy.

This was confirmed in a statement by Chiefs on Monday where they thanked Johnson for his contribution to the team.

Johnson had come in as Head of Academy in September 2023, but he was asked to step in as interim coach when Molefi Ntseki was sacked in October.

The 65-year-old was in charge of 22 matches across all competitions. He won six, drew seven and lost nine during that period.

“Kaizer Chiefs have agreed to an amicable parting of ways with head of Academy, Cavin Johnson,” read the statement.

“Johnson joined Kaizer Chiefs in September 2023 to take up his role at the Club.

“The departure is part of the restructuring process that the Club is undertaking.

“We wish to thank Mr Johnson for his contribution to Kaizer Chiefs and wish him well in the future.”
