'Not found suitable': Union minister Anupriya Patel writes to CM Yogi Adityanath over rejection of OBC, SC/ST candidates

NEW DELHI: Union minister and president of Apna Dal (Sonelal) Anupriya Patel wrote a letter to UP CM Yogi Adityanath, expressing concern over the rejection of OBC and SC/ST candidates terming them "not found suitable" for the state government posts and urged him to take effective measures to immediately halt this practice.

Patel in her letter dated June 27, said that candidates belonging to the backward classes and scheduled caste/scheduled tribe category have been constantly contacting her regarding this issue.

"...in various competitive examinations conducted by the state government, which have only an interview-based recruitment process, the candidates of these classes are often declared 'not found suitable' for the posts reserved for them and none of them are selected," said the minister.

She further alleged that this process is repeatedly implemented, and subsequently, the positions reserved for OBC and SC/ST candidates are declared unreserved.

Moreover, Patel claimed that even after meeting the minimum eligibility criteria based on merit, OBC and SC/ST candidates are still declared "not found suitable." "It is beyond comprehension that these candidates are repeatedly declared not found suitable for appointment," she Patel.

Additionally, she requested that necessary provisions be made to ensure that the reserved posts are filled exclusively with candidates from the OBC and SC/ST categories, regardless of the number of times the recruitment process needs to be conducted.
