Virat Kohli responds to PM Modi's congratulatory message: 'Thank you for support'
Batting star Virat Kohli thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his words of support and encouragement after India's T20 World Cup triumph. Kohli said PM Modi's support and encouragement have always helped them stay positive in their trophy hunt and it was no different in the Caribbean. Notably, PM Modi spoke to Indian cricketers, including captain Rohit Sharma and Kohli, after India won the T20 World Cup in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.
Virat Kohli took to social media on Monday, July 1, to express his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thank him for his support. Notably, PM Modi had visited the dressing room in Ahmedabad on November 19, 2023 and consoled the Indian players after the team lost the ODI World Cup final to Australia.

"Dear@narendramodisir, thank you so much for your very kind words and your support and encouragement always. It has been a privilege to be a part of this team which has brought the cup home. We are deeply touched & overwhelmed with the happiness it has bought the entire nation," Virat Kohli said.
PM Modi had congratulated Virat Kohli for his match-winning knock of 76 in the final between India and South Africa. PM Modi also wished Kohli the best in ODIs and Tests after the star batter announced his T20I retirement. In his inimitable style, PM Modi had said T20i cricket will miss Kohli.
Earlier in the day, Rohit Sharma responded to PM Modi's congratulatory message with a post on social media. Both Kohli and Rohit announced their retirements from the shortest format of the game after India won the final. Coach Rahul Dravid also signed off on a high after overseeing the team to success in the West Indies.
PM Modi is expected to host the victorious Indian team in the coming days. The Prime Minister has made sure he hosts world champions and medal winners from major tournaments to motivate the athletes.
The Indian team has stayed back in Barbados as flight operations in the island have taken a hit due to Hurricane Beryl. Rohit Sharma and his men are expected to head home on Tuesday, provided the weather conditions in Barbados improve.
