PETALING JAYA: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has hit his RM100,000 target within 48 hours of his 200km Langkah Muar “protest run” from his constituency to the Parliament building in Kuala Lumpur.
He had targeted to raise RM100,000 for community service centres in Muar because he said he had not received any allocation from the government.
“RM101,006 within 48 hours! Alhamdulillah, I am grateful to all of you,” he said in a post on X.
He said he had completed 124km and had “a little bit more to go”.
“No matter how painful it gets, I will not quit.
“I owe it to the people. I owe it to those who gave me a chance to serve. I owe it to Malaysia,” he said.
Syed Saddiq began his run on Friday to protest the lack of allocations for opposition MPs.
He said he has complied with the government’s requests to negotiate for an allocation and had met deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof twice, but these discussions had not yielded any results so far.
“Hence, I am using my legs to raise funds as a form of protest,” he said.
