Clarity sought on Bangsar slope works by DBKL

RESIDENTS of Bangsar Park are requesting clarification on an ongoing slope enhancement project by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) along Jalan Maarof.

The project is on an inner lane of Jalan Senuduk, adjacent to Bangsar Shopping Centre.

Pooba Mahalingam said construction machinery had obstructed the road, making it narrow and prone to accidents.

“Despite there being a traffic controller managing traffic flow, I have witnessed several near misses,” he said.

“We have been waiting for a signboard to be erected to make motorists aware of the project but there has been none so far.”

When contacted, DBKL advisory board member Lai Chen Heng said City Hall also planned to cut down high-risk trees in the area.

He stressed that no signboard was needed for maintenance works being carried out on existing infrastructure.

“Only new projects – which is when new structures are being built – require a signboard.”

He said the project had now entered the phase of rockfall netting installation and was expected to be completed by July 31.

“Previously, DBKL and the MP’s office had conducted a site visit to engage with nearby residents.

“They should have been told about the project,” he said.

Bangsar Park Residents Association president Nitesh Malani confirmed that Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil’s office held a site visit to brief residents about the project.

However, he said many residents were still confused and said a signboard at the construction site would provide greater clarity.
