Selangor Ruler consents to audience with Hamidin after July 7

PETALING JAYA: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has consented to an audience with Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin.

According to Hamidin, the Ruler's private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani informed him of the matter on Friday (June 29) afternoon.

"I received a phone call from Datuk Munir at about 2.30pm on Friday, the day after I sent the letter requesting permission to meet with the Sultan," he said.

"His Majesty the Sultan of Selangor has ordered him (Datuk Munir) to accept the application I sent to Istana Bukit Kayangan, Shah Alam on Thursday," he said

Hamidin said he was also informed by Munir that Sultan Sharafuddin will be leaving for Sarawak and then has other official business until the Maal Hijrah celebration on July 7.

"God willing, if there are no obstacles, likely, the date to see His Majesty the Sultan of Selangor will only be held after July 7," Hamidin said.

Earlier, Sultan Sharafuddin expressed his disappointment and anger following the punishment imposed on Selangor by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) for not participating in the Charity Shield game against JDT despite the safety concerns raised by the state ruler.

Sultan Sharafuddin also expressed his disappointment and sadness towards Hamidin because he has known him for a long time as Hamidin was the former Selangor Football Association (FAS) secretary-general from 1995 to 2013 and is also experienced in the Selangor football arena.
