Actress Lakshmi Manchu recently shifted to Mumbai, and her life has changed quite a lot since then. She is gearing up to explore opportunities in Bollywood after delivering back-to-back hit projects in the South. Talking about the Mumbai shift, Lakshmi told Zoom, "Very difficult. I get migraine attacks. Not regularly, but once or twice a year. In South, I had people in my finger tips—let it be a doctor or someone else—because you've been there for a while and people know you. In Bombay, you go to Leelavati Hospital, and they say idhar baitho, and I was like, What? Things like that... I always say that if I work so hard to cut lines, then why would I stand on a cue? Utna bhi humility nahi hai. People recognise me, like when I take an airline, they give me a sweet note. We want to be recognised, appreciated, and validated. We're artists, more than food; that's what we live or breathe for. Abhi idhar waapis 0 se start karna hai. But it's grounding me, and more than me, it's grounding my daughter. It's very necessary that she see this humility."
She added, "Bombay is very grounding like that. The school she goes to, lots of celeb kids go too, but they don't bring that baggage, and that puts everyone on equal footing. It's not just Bollywood here; the whole financial capital is here. You show off, but someone else wants to show off more. It's equalising and in the near future, boarding school is where I see her. Our lives are not real. We live in a little bubble, and the kind of life I want to have for my daughter is more real. We need to show them what real life is. Bombay will teach you everything about life."
Revealing when she decided to move to Mumbai, she said, "I woke up one Monday and decided to take a flight to Bombay. I took the decision on Wednesday, and on Friday I was looking for a school in Bombay. It was a very impulsive decision that I've been mastering for a few years. I lived in LA and did my college in the USA, and this gave me strength to do this, and I felt like hojaega. I'm just an hour's flight to Hyderabad. So it was if, not now, and then when. My daughter is so adaptable that it took me longer than her."
Talking about whom she is looking forward to working with, Lakshmi said, "I want to work with everyone. I've been obsessed with the Panchayat series. For the past week, it has been a ritual for me to watch because it puts a smile on my face. Although the last episode of the 1st season made me cry so much that I got up and watched the 1st episode of the 3rd season and went to sleep."
She added, "Pratik Gandhi, Ranveer Singh, and Vikrant Massey have so much buzzing talent I want to work with."
Lakshmi loves practicing yoga. "I've got some amazing yoga teachers. I used to fly from Hyderabad for classes. I feel happy when I do yoga.Sunday morning, we do yoga with my daughter,"
Giving her definition of fashion, the diva added, "Fashion is comfort. Especially in Bombay, I'm wearing two shorts and four t-shirts. People think I've lost weight, but no, I'm just wearing extra-large clothes."
