Sanjay Jha Becomes The New Working President Of JD(U) | English News | Bihar News | News18
Coming in after the JDU, you know, national level executive has ended, is about JDU getting a new supremo. Sanjay Jha has been made the working president of the Janta Dal United. Nitish Kumar himself announced the name of Sanjay Jha after Lalan Singh moved into the Union Council. The other close aide of Nitish Kumar, the Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from the JDU, Sanjay Jha, will be at the helm of affairs of the party, hoping to resurrect the party after its recent comfortable win in Bihar. KC Tyagi, in fact, spoke to the media about what else was decided at that crucial meeting. Let's listen #1 #2 #2 kyo Bihar sarkarne arshant lagu kiyata Supreme Court, Supreme Court number charge party ke kaam kajme or adhik rajya. So that was KC Tyagi, the spokesperson of JDU, telling the media about the decisions that have been taken. 2-3 important points there. One that Nitish Kumar at that meeting told his Kara Kartas, told his leaders that there's no question of ever leaving the NDA, ever leaving this alliance with the BJP. This is because Nitish Kumar has been repeatedly asked that he has been with the NDA once and then gone back to the RJD and now he's back with the NDA. So. So where does Nitish Kumars loyalty really lie? So he's clarifying that. Second question is on reservation. He's saying we apply to go to the Supreme Court of India on the question of 50% cap for reservation and 3rd and most important is the question of special package for Bihar. On that note, let me bring in Saurabh Rathore, my colleague who tracks the JDU from Bihar. Saurabh, a special package or special status for Bihar was the key contention. In terms of the Union councils representation, JDU didn't really get anything major and it was speculated that some kind of financial help might be the real negotiation card between JDU and the Bhartiya Janata Party. Did you get a sense from this meeting that any way forward has been found in terms of special package, special status for Bihar? I think I've lost that line with Saurabh Rathore. I'll try and reconnect. But just to explain to your viewers as to why you know this, this national executive of the JDU was important is because it is coming straight after the Lok Sabha win for JDUBJP combined in Bihar. It was speculated that JDU might suffer setbacks but it hasn't happened that way. In fact, JDU has emerged very strongly. It is now in a kingmakers position in Delhi. Saurabh Rathore, if you're back with us, help me understand the key contention for JDU seem to be a special status for Bihar or some kind of a financial package for Bihar. After this meeting, do you see the JDU softening its stance or still sticking to that negotiation card? Yes, it is Arunima and there is a reason behind it. 12 out of 16 seats is what JDU has you know managed to get here in general elections in Bihar and now its the time when this national executive meeting took place today and very important proposals were passed unanimously. The 1st on the foremost is the election of, you know the Sanjay Jha as the working President. This has importance here in the politics of JDU as a party in Bihar because Sanjay Jha had been elevated as Rajya Sabha member from a minister or Bihar minister. He was elected as Rajya Sabha member and now he has given an opportunity to work as a working president. So a big, you know, a big responsibility has been given to him to look after the politics of the party in the state of Bihar. And few key points that has been discussed and has been proposed in the, you know, in the in the in that meeting holds a very important place where the proposal for you know, asking for special status because special status of Bihar has been a key agenda of JDU right from beginning. And now that there is a double engine Sarkar here in Bihar as well as in the center, now the JDU is demanding the special status so that more and more development comes to Bihar. And another important, you know, proposal was passed to file a review in the Supreme Court against Patna. Patna High Courts order where it struck down reservation issue 65%. Remember 65% reservation was increased and that law was struck down by Patna High Court. In fact, need paper leak issue was also discussed and it was decided that a strong action should be taken against the culprits and more stringent laws should be made in the parliament. So these were two, three points that were proposed in the meeting and obviously the Jharkhand elections and Bihar elections were discussed where the strategy was discussed inside the meeting. Meeting Arunima. Right? Saurabh, thank you so much for helping us understand what is the key take away from the crucial meeting of the JDU. The national executive has decided to appoint Sanjay Jha as the working president of the party. It has also said that it is going to approach the higher court, Supreme Court in this context to talk about the reservation cap and 3rd and most important issue, the special package of the special status for Bihar. Let's move on to the other big story.
