Why John Mara, Giants finally agreed to appear on ‘Hard Knocks’ | The Athletic

Three months after their initial meeting with NFL Films, the Giants agreed to be featured on this newest iteration of “Hard Knocks.” For the Giants, combining the 100th season with the team’s offseason program and the franchise’s scouting history dating to Wellington Mara’s contributions ended up being a perfect match.

“When I said to him, ‘Hey, John, this is something that I think, you know, if we’re gonna do this, the value of the (“Hard Knocks”) name and all the great production, and obviously HBO’s brand, now’s the time to do it,’” Nilay Shah, the Giants’ senior vice president for marketing and brand strategy said. “And he said yes to me on the spot. There wasn’t a lot of deliberation.”

Kayvon Thibodeaux hopes Giants make statement of 'resiliency' to kick off season against Vikings | NFL.com

"Resiliency. Physicality. Speed," Thibodeaux told NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero on Friday's The Insiders, which will air at 7 p.m. ET, in response to what statement he hopes the Giants make Week 1 against the Vikings. "We're gonna play with all the things we played with back in the day. This is the 100th year anniversary of the Giants, so hopefully we can let those superpowers from our ancestors come and take over."

Ranking NFL's 10 Worst Rosters Entering 2024 Season | The 33rd Team

There are times when a great play-caller just doesn't cut it as a great head coach due to their personnel decisions, and the New York Giants seem to be experiencing that with Brian Daboll.

The roster's foundation is at least interesting, with Nabers, Andrew Thomas, Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and a promising cornerback room looking like capable leaders for the future. It's just not enough right now, though.

Every NFL team’s potential breakout player in 2024 | USAToday.com

After suffering a torn ACL in his rookie season, Wan’Dale Robinson slowly worked his way back in 2023, flashing at times later in the year. The healthier he became, the more dynamic and comfortable appeared. Now in his third season, Robinson stands to benefit from rookie Malik Nabers on the outside and the depth of Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt. Completely recovered from that knee injury, Robinson will man the slot role and should dominate any one-on-one matchups thanks to his excellent route running and on-a-dime cuts.

2. Wan’Dale Robinson. Robinson tied for a team-high 76 targets in 2023 at a 26.9% clip. He led the team in catches (60) and missed tackles forced (13) while recording seven gains of 20-plus yards. In all, Robinson finished with 525 receiving yards receiving and 29 first downs. He has the second-highest separation rate for the Giants in his first two NFL seasons (93.4%), as well as the second-highest target rate (27.5%).

Giants looking to create more explosive plays down the field in 2024 | USAToday.com

“Making sure we’re better on third down. Making sure we’re staying on the field and putting together long drives,” Jones told the Giants Huddle podcast. “We’re trying to improve (and) create explosive plays and get the ball down the field.

“Hitting the chances that we get. That’s throwing the ball accurately, letting guys run, and taking advantage of the shots we have. Those are things we’re always working on but we’ve got a lot of guys that can make big plays.”

A particular area of concern for the Giants is the secondary:

With Xavier McKinney and Adoree’ Jackson gone, the Giants have what is arguably the league’s shakiest unit at both cornerback and safety. Deonte Banks (a 2023 first-round pick) will need to make a leap forward in Year 2 and carry the CB room. The likes of Cor’Dale Flott, Nick McCloud, Tre Hawkins III and third-round rookie Dru Phillips are among those competing for the other starting jobs. At safety, Jason Pinnock has proved to be a competent starter, and he’ll be joined by some combination of second-round rookie Tyler Nubin, Dane Belton and Jalen Mills.

4. Tyrone Tracy, Giants. In 2021, Tracy was a middling wideout at Iowa. Now he's an exciting Day 3 selection at the running back spot on a Giants team that has Devin Singletary as it's lead runner entering the 2024 campaign. Don't get me wrong with that sentence -- I love Singletary. He was my RB1 in the 2019 class and has quietly averaged 4.6 yards per carry in his NFL career to date with at least 150 rushes in all of his first five professional seasons.
