Fresh off an NBA title, Jayson Tatum just got a well-earned payday.
The Boston Celtics signed Tatum to a five-year, $314 million super maximum contract extension on Monday, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Monday.
The deal is the largest contract in NBA history and will keep him with the team through the 2029-30 season.
Tatum helped propel Boston to their league-best 18th title in franchise history with an instrumental Game 5 performance that left him with 31 points and just two assists shy of becoming the 15th player to ever record a triple-double in the NBA Finals.
In 74 games during the 2023-24 regular season, Tatum averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists and led the Celtics to a league-best record of 64-18.
The 26-year-old Duke product is a five-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA selection. He was selected to the All-NBA first team last season.
