Eagles Named As Potential Landing Spot For DE Darrell Taylor
The calendar has turned over to July and that means training camp is just a few weeks away. The Philadelphia Eagles have bolstered their team in an attempt to cast off the demons of last year’s epic collapse and return to the Super Bowl this season.
Everyone loves a good comeback story, right?
Recently, Bleacher Report made a list of five teams that could end up with Seattle Seahawks fourth-year pass rusher Darrell Taylor. As the Eagles' defense was one of the league’s worst a season ago, the Birds landed on the list.
Eagles Named As Potential Landing Spot For DE Darrell Taylor
"The Seattle Seahawks didn't necessarily behave like a rebuilding team this offseason, but they are still a team in transition after going to Mike Macdonald as their head coach to replace Pete Carroll," B/R said. "Darrell Taylor is playing on a one-year extension and would provide value to another team as a pass rusher.”
“He has 21.5 sacks over the last three seasons, but the Seahawks didn't sign him to a multi-year extension this offseason.”
Taylor, on a prove-it one-year-deal, could be quite enticing for the Eagles. Taylor’s best season was in 2022 when he recorded 26 tackles, 9.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
The Eagles could use that kind of help up front, especially from a player who is playing for his next contract. Should he come available, General Manager Howie Roseman and the company would certainly need to consider it.
At just 27 years old, Taylor is still in his prime. With just this season’s contract to worry about, a late-round draft pick should cover the acquisition.
