'Supacell' Deserves A Second Season, And Its Post-Credits Scene Might Earn It One

Like all superhero shows and movies, Supacell has a post-credits scene. While nothing is a guarantee these days, there’s enough going on after the first season’s ending and the implications made in the final moments that fans probably won’t be satisfied until Season 2 is confirmed.

At the time of writing, Season 2 of Supacell is not confirmed, but that can change at any moment. It takes a while for Netflix to collect data and make a decision about the future of its programming, but in the meantime let’s just lay out some reasons why Rapman’s superhero series should definitely be renewed.

Supacell’s Post-Credits Scene Lays Out A Path For The Future

The mere existence of a post-credits scene shows that Rapman and the other creatives behind Supacell are at least thinking about a second season. Many aspects of Season 1’s plot are left unresolved, and it certainly feels like things were just getting started.

In the post-credits scene, we learn that Krazy survived being stabbed by Michael. He has been brought back to life by Ray on behalf of the Organization, but during his debrief with Ray and his overseer, Victoria, it’s clear that he has become surplus to requirements. Despite his arguments, Victoria has him killed.

During these scenes, we see that Jasmine and Sharleen are both still alive and being held captive by The Organization. We also recognize Victoria from earlier in the season, when she was seen treating sickle cell patients (yikes). It’s clear that Victoria is the Big Bad of The Organization and that Michael and the others will have to go through her to rescue Jasmine, Sharleen, and the others.

Michael Is Out For Revenge

Michael’s arc in Season 1 of Supacell is predicated on the idea of changing the future. When a future version of himself gave him the date of Dionne’s death and tells him he can prevent it by assembling the five key members of his team — Sabrina, Rodney, Andre, Tazer, and himself — Michael spends the whole season trying to do that.

And he’s successful — which makes it all the more shocking to him and the audience when his efforts only result in Dionne being killed earlier than expected. He did manage to change the future, but not in the way he wanted.

At the end of Season 1, Michael resolves to take the fight to The Organization by traveling into the future and acquiring as much information as possible to help give them an advantage. He’s desperate for revenge and it’s hard to imagine anything would stop him from pursuing that path in Season 2.

Is Supacell Season 2 Likely?

One can never quite say what Netflix is thinking when it comes to renewals, however, Supacell has come out of the gate pretty strong. At the time of writing it is number two on the platform’s top 10 series in the UK, which is a good start, and just like any other market, Netflix will be pleased to have a very culturally-specific product to entertain fans in that region.

But Supacell is a show with global appeal since Season 1 is currently sitting at 100% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, which is a rare achievement. There are only seven reviews right now, including ours, but the praise is universal thus far.

Speaking to The Radio Times, series creator Rapman said:

“For the beginning of the show, I always tell everyone that season 1 of Supacell to me is like Batman Begins. It’s just beginning.

“You’ve got to see where it goes next to see who these people really are.”

From this quote, it’s clear that there are plans to extend the series, and given that Netflix has been kind to UK shows before — most notably Top Boy — there’s a good chance we could see more of Supacell sooner rather than later.
