Soggy, stormy Saturday starts to Ontario's long weekend
High amounts of atmospheric moisture is infiltrating across regions of southern Ontario, bringing that humidity back for Saturday. But that's also going to bring quite a bit of rain and some severe thunderstorms towards the southern regions of southwestern Ontario through the noon period. That's when we can expect some embedded storms within the rain front that will be pushing across the region 4 areas across northeastern Ontario. However, that same low pressure system, that's what's bringing all of this atmospheric moisture across Ontario. That's going to trigger some of those more severe storms, bringing about the risk of some large hail. However, for southern Ontario as well as we're heading towards the afternoon into the evening, we can still expect to see some of those thunderstorms thanks to that cold front that is going to be passing across the region. Now with this, most of the embedded thunderstorms and the torrential rain is expected towards the southern end of southern Ontario. So into Southwestern Ontario, that's also going to bring with it strong wind gusts. However, the risk for areas across Sudbury is going to be more scattered. Thunderstorms still bring the risk for large hail as well as some strong winds. In terms of the rainfall, we can see the heaviest right along that 401 corridor, 20 to 30mm expected. As well as up towards regions of Timmons. But on the back end of this cold front, it is going to infiltrate with quite a bit of northwesterly air and that's going to bring those temperatures significantly below seasonal across southern Ontario for Sunday.
