Glastonbury viewers issue same complaint minutes into BBC show coverage

Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley joined broadcaster Clara Amfo on BBC to present live coverage of the Glastonbury Festival alongside Lauren Laverne and Jack Saunders.

Although many were pleased to see the headliners take to the stage, others were left distracted by the TV host.

Jo sparked major concern among fans who pointed out that she needs "throat lozenges" for her "raspy" voice.

During the show, the 58-year-old had lost her voice but continued to soilder on and cover the festival as she has been since 1997.

Despite this, many of her worried fans took to social media with confusion as well as well wishes including @livlivvlivvy who wrote: "Praying for @jowhiley's voice on the Glastonbury coverage."

@Racingfan211 remarked: "Jo Whiley doesn't age! She sounds like she needs a bit lemon though."

As @SueHarv87450611 slammed: "So sorry to say...... I am finding Jo Whileys voice a bit irritating."

Taking to X, @Mrs_Coups advised: "@jowhiley you need vocalzone. I lost my voice in rehearsals for the BBC Proms and they got me through it for a few days."

@Suzybk72 echoed: "Can someone please give Jo a lozenges and a hot toddy for her throat, poor girl sounds so raspy. #GLASTONBURY."

@alex_cefai urged: "@glastonbury somebody give Jo Whiley a break! She's going to lose her voice completely at this rate! Can't Grimmy take over? Poor woman."

During the coverage, Jo referenced her strained vocal cords and often asked Clara to take over while interviewing their musical guests.

She also assured viewers: "I have been having honey and lemon...everything that I could have possibly done, I have done. It's the most awful timing for this to have happened."

Her co-host Clara added: "I can confirm Jo Whiley has made every effort to preserve that iconic voice of hers and I guarantee it will be back before the end of Glastonbury. We have high hopes."
