(TAP) - President of Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traoré, expressed his country's desire to benefit more from Tunisian expertise in the fields of health, vocational training and higher education during his meeting on Monday in Ougadougou with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar.
"Tunisia enjoys a good reputation in Burkina Faso and is involved in several government infrastructure projects," he noted.
The Burkinabe President also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the President of the Republic for the importance he attaches to strengthening relations between the two countries and peoples.
He recalled that Tunisia and Burkina Faso enjoy close relations based on mutual respect and fruitful cooperation.
The Burkinabe President briefed the Foreign Minister on the transition process in Burkina Faso, stressing his country's keenness to ensure the success of this process, which is primarily in the interest of the Burkinabe people, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
For his part, the Minister stressed that Tunisia respects the sovereign choices and decisions of Burkina Faso, rejects any foreign interference in the internal affairs of countries and wishes to establish an equal partnership.
He recalled Tunisia's initiatives to strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields and to establish a direct air link.
Nabil Ammar expressed his satisfaction at the good level of cooperation, which has witnessed the strengthening of the legal framework through the signing of 11 cooperation agreements in the fields of vocational training, women's empowerment, industry, investment, tourism, trade, traditional industries, youth and sports.
He also conveyed to the Burkinabe President the Head of State's desire to further strengthen relations of fraternity and cooperation between the two countries.
He praised the strength and diversity of bilateral cooperation in the fields of health, higher education, vocational training, public works and infrastructure since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1964.
The Minister also expressed Tunisia's full solidarity with the Government of Burkina Faso in its fight against terrorism, recalling in this context the cooperation between the two countries in the field of military training.
The meeting highlighted a consensus on the analysis of the situation and developments on the regional and international arenas, as well as the convergence of views on the Palestinian issue and irregular migration, the ministry said in a statement.
It took place during the Foreign Minister's visit to Burkina Faso on the occasion of the eighth session of the Tunisia-Burkina Faso Joint Commission in the Burkinabe capital, Ouagadougou.
