Saskatoon house explosion shakes Pacific Heights neighbourhood Thursday evening
This house fire in the 3500 block of Diefenbaker Dr. bringing many people out of their homes, not just for what they saw, but what they felt. We couldn't tell if it was coming from underneath us, above us, beside us. It just, it felt like something. It felt like something under the ground had exploded and we couldn't tell how close it was to us. Danielle Young lives across the street. She tells Global News she felt her entire home shake and then she saw the aftermath. We started seeing smoke coming out of the backyard right across the street, black smoke and it turned into full blown flames coming out of the roof quite quickly. Fire confirms there was an explosion and crews responded around 830 after reports of smoke and flames. On arrival had heavy fire coming out of the back of the house. The crews, you know, beginning the aggressive exterior attack. They also made sure all the occupants were out of the house. Another neighbor tells Global News there was an explosion around 4:00 in the morning too and crews came back. Fire couldn't confirm if another explosion did happen but did say crews returned later that night. Deputy Fire Chief Rob Hogan says thankfully the family living there was not hurt. But unfortunately, the home is a complete loss. It's still unknown what caused the blaze. Saskatoon Fire continues to investigate. Nicole Healy. Global News.
