Team by team review of the Austrian Grand Prix, round 11 of the 24-race Formula One season (listed in current championship order):

RED BULL (Max Verstappen 5, Sergio Perez 7)

Verstappen started on pole after winning the Saturday sprint, also from pole, and led comfortably until a slow pitstop due to a stuck wheel nut slashed his advantage. A 64th lap collision with McLaren's Lando Norris caused a puncture and dropped him to fifth, with a 10 second penalty. He still extended his lead to 81 points. Perez started eighth, had car damage from lap one and collected a five second penalty for pit lane speeding. Red Bull are now 64 points clear of Ferrari.

FERRARI (Carlos Sainz 3, Charles Leclerc 11)

Leclerc started sixth but tangled with Perez and Oscar Piastri at turn one, pitting for a new front wing and dropping to 19th before fighting back. He made three stops. Sainz, lining up fourth, was passed by Lewis Hamilton at the start but he had to give the place back. Sainz gained two places when Norris and Verstappen collided but Piastri passed him on fresher tyres. The podium was Sainz's fifth of the season and consolidated fourth, 15 points behind Leclerc but having done one race less.

MCLAREN (Oscar Piastri 2, Lando Norris retired)

Norris started on the front row, challenged Verstappen for the lead but lost out when they collided and he collected a puncture and damage to his car. Piastri started seventh, after being stripped of his fastest lap in qualifying, and finished 1.906 behind Russell after passing Sainz late on for his fourth F1 podium. McLaren, who had both drivers on the podium in the sprint, are 23 points behind Ferrari after six podiums in a row.

MERCEDES (George Russell 1, Lewis Hamilton 4)

Mercedes secured their first win since November 2022, when Russell also won in Brazil 34 races and 595 days ago. The Briton, starting third, took his second F1 win when Verstappen and Norris collided ahead of him. Hamilton had floor damage and got a five second penalty for crossing the white line at pitlane entry. Mercedes scored most points (45) from the weekend.

ASTON MARTIN (Lance Stroll 13, Fernando Alonso 18)

Alonso set the fastest lap, without a bonus point because he finished outside the top 10. The Spaniard made contact with Sauber's Zhou Guanyu and collected a 10 second penalty.

RB (Daniel Ricciardo 9, Yuki Tsunoda 14)

Ricciardo did the longest stint of the race, 34 laps on the hard tyre, and collected two points the day before his 35th birthday. The team split the strategies after the start, with Ricciardo pitting first and Tsunoda going long.

HAAS (Nico Hulkenberg 6, Kevin Magnussen 8)

Haas bagged 12 points, pulling 10 clear of Alpine and closing in on RB. Hulkenberg started ninth with Magnussen lining up 12th. The result was the team's best so far this year and more than doubled their points haul to date.

ALPINE (Pierre Gasly 10, Esteban Ocon 12)

Gasly scored a point but Alpine slid back down to eighth after being outperformed by Haas. Ocon started 10th, passing Hulkenberg and staying ahead for a few laps. Gasly started 13th, did a 29 lap final stint on the medium tyre, and scored points for the fourth race in a row to take his career tally to 400.

WILLIAMS (Alex Albon 15, Logan Sargeant 19)

Albon was handed a five second penalty for crossing the while line at pitlane entry. Sargeant had to pit for a new front wing after first lap contact.

SAUBER (Valtteri Bottas 16, Zhou Guanyu 17)
