Paul Finebaum Analyzes Shedeur Sanders' Heisman Chances
The Heisman Trophy, awarded to the best player in the nation, is arguably the most prestigious accolade in college football. Heading into the 2024 season, the favorites for the award are Carson Beck of the Georgia Bulldogs and Quinn Ewers of the Texas Longhorns.
Colorado Buffaloes star quarterback Shedeur Sanders is generating a lot of hype heading into the season, but according to FanDuel, he is currently tied for No. 16 in Heisman odds at +2500.
Paul Finebaum, though, believes that Sanders could have a chance to win the award if he can start the season with a lot of momentum.
However, Finebaum is uncertain whether Sanders' team will have enough success, which he thinks will be difficult to overcome.
"I think it's about momentum," Finebaum said. "You start off with big numbers. I mean, Shedeur Sanders, could he get around the fact that his father's team is going to be terrible? I don't think so, no."

Sanders threw for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 69.3% of his passes in 2023. He is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL draft.
Last season, the quarterback was sacked more than 50 times. With a rebuilt offensive line, the Colorado star could be in for a stellar season and may find himself firmly in the Heisman race by season's end.
