Celebrity chef and Great British Bake Off host Paul Hollywood raked in more than £14 million in 2023.

The figures make the TV host and food expert, 58, who has been a judge on Bake Off since 2010, one of the best paid stars on British TV.

The total amount of £14.1 million, published on Companies House, means that Paul is bringing in over £270,000-per-week, with his salary matching that of top footballers.

HJP Media, which is owned by Paul himself, made an additional £1.14 million in profit during the same financial year, with an additional £4 million coming from assets.

And it’s no surprise, with the Paul Hollywood brand now expanding across British and international TV, book deals, and supermarkets, among many other areas.

As well as hosting Bake Off, Paul is also featured in TV shows such as Paul Hollywood Eats Mexico, Paul Hollywood Eats Japan, and the Big Continental Road Trip.

On top of his TV empire, he’s published a grand total of 11 cookbooks since 2004,with many of them topping UK bestseller lists after selling hundreds of thousands of copies.

His name is also plastered all over easy-bake products in supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, with crusty bread rolls and his famous white bloomer bread part of the range.

The good news just keeps on coming for Paul at the moment, who was made an MBE in April by Princess Anne during a ceremony at Windsor Castle.

He told PA afterwards: ‘Anne did say that baking is so integral to the DNA of us all [and that she] loves the smell of baking. And I said “Absolutely, I grew up with the smell”.’

‘I think she’s particularly fond of Chelsea buns. I promised her some, so I put myself on the spot there.’

Paul then revealed how his family reacted: ‘I was over the moon. I told my mum and she was silent on the phone, which is quite unusual for my mum. I wish my nan had seen it. She was very fond of the Royal Family, as we all are.’

With Bake Off’s move to Channel 4 now seriously paying off for Paul, he’ll no doubt have been happy to hear that the baking show is staying put on the channel.

The wholesome baking and cooking show, which originally started on the BBC back in 2010 before moving to Channel 4 in 2017, had its future called into question in recent months.

It was revealed in April that the show’s contract with Channel 4 will soon end, which left some viewers worried that international streaming companies could bid to host the show.

However, Love Productions, who make Bake Off, have decided to stay with Channel 4 after all, with fears that the beloved series would go behind a subscription thankfully eased.

Catch up with Great British Bake Off on Channel 4.
