Severe storms threaten the Prairies with heavy rain and strong winds
Heavy rain targeted Alberta on Thursday and through early Friday morning. You could see this flooded gas station. Roads were dangerous. We could see with the heavy rain too. And while it's clearing out of Alberta, that low pressure center still swirling across the prairies bringing us heavy rain continuing and a chance of thunderstorms as well through this Friday afternoon and evening. So there's the rain that's still hitting places like Saskatoon and through the late afternoon evening between Regina, Essena, Boya. On the border of Manitoba, we're going to run the risk of seeing some strong thunderstorms as well. So throwing everything at you, anywhere marked in yellow, chance of thunderstorms. But the orange is where we can see some stronger storms with maybe some hail and gustier winds and that punch of higher rainfall. Now there is still that heavy rain along the Yellowhead Hwy. through our Friday around 40 to 60mm. But the good news is things are clearing, but we still have the windy weather to get through today. The potential for the flooding as well before we get you to your long weekend and on Saturday here as that low continues to track on east, we'll see the high pressure drop in for Saturday. So some sunshine and dry weather to enjoy in the prairies, but temperatures will be below seasonal.
