Kaizer Chiefs make HUGE decision on Cavin Johnson’s future!

Cavin Johnson’s name is far from a favourite among fans of Kaizer Chiefs, after his exploits with the first team.

Johnson was the man at the helm of Chiefs during their dismal run, in the second half of last season.

Johnson came in as interim coach

Initially appointed as head of development at the club, Chiefs roped him in as interim coach after disaster struct. The club management had to relieve then coach Molefi Ntseki from his post, due to bad results. Part of those results was the first round Carling Knockout Cup loss to AmaZulu which proved to be the final drawer. He had also endured some fan abuse, with objects thrown at him in stadiums. Up stepped Johnson, who the management were hoping would come in and steady the ship.

In the end, things went from bad to worse instead, under Johsnon. He led the club to its most losses in a year and also the lowest league finish in their history, 10th! That feat had Chiefs fans baying for blood and wanting the experienced campaigner removed from the club completely. This even after the club confirmed he would be not get the head coach role.

Now after much speculation surrounding his future, IDiski Times reports Chiefs have decided to retain Johnson.

Chiefs to retain him as Head of Youth Development

“Kaizer Chiefs will retain the services of Cavin Johnson and he will go back to his old role and continue as Head of the Academy. Meanwhile, iDiski Times understands that Johnson has been retained by the club and he will go back to his role as Head of the Academy, overseeing the club’s youth academy and scouting network. Amakhosi are yet to make any official announcement on their changes to the technical team and playing stuff.” Wrote the publication.
