SA's electricity crisis | Three months without blackouts

JOHANNESBURG - It’s been three months since South Africans last experienced rolling power cuts but with the cold setting in across the country, Eskom says the lights could still go out this winter.

In its weekly alert, Eskom says it is addressing the recurring challenge of network overloading in certain regions.
It's using open-cycle gas turbines to support its coal-fired power stations during times of peak demand.
The last time rolling power cuts were imposed was 93 days ago, on 26 March, marking the longest period of energy stability in the country since at least 2021.
Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena, discussed this with eNCA.
