After speculation over dropping late in the 2025 NFL Draft, it's time for some reality check about Deion Sanders' son's Heisman Trophy dreams. ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum sees no ray of hope. While the analyst is confident about Shedeur's performance in the Heisman race, he seems to have second thoughts on the chances of a "terrible" performance that Deion Sanders' team will likely put up. With little sugarcoating, Finebaum boldly claimed on The Paul Finebaum Show, "You start off with big numbers. I mean, Shedeur Sanders, could he get around the fact that his father's team is going to be terrible? I don't think so, no."
Shedeur's absence creates an opening for Hunter
In case their favorite quarterback is out of the race, Colorado will still have some hope. Courtesy for this goes to their dual-threat: Travis Hunter and his superpower. His two-way talent stands at an advantage. While in the last season, Hunter put himself in a suitable spot as a shutdown corner, this season, he only needs to showcase his impact as a wide receiver. Now comes the present scenario that might prove to be a boon in Hunter's case. Carson Beck, the QB, was unlucky not to have a standout year in 2023. The same applies to Quinn Ewers, who, as another favorite, has struggled to stay healthy. If both star QBs fail to meet the expectations, it will be the turn of Colorado's two-way threat. Hence, even if Shedeur is out of the race, Deion Sanders will have enough reasons to celebrate. If Hunter grabs the Heisman trophy, he will be the first primary defender to win this prestigious award since 1997. All eyes are on Travis!
