Elon Musk’s car collection is more than a garage full of Teslas
Elon Musk is a name well-known globally. The Founder of Tesla is also the owner of X, formerly called Twitter, and for a high-profile person such as Musk, especially for a person who owns an electric car company, one would think he owns multiple Teslas himself. The answer is yes, he does.
Musk owns a few Teslas such as the most controversial Cyber Truck, the Model Y, which he uses as a family vehicle, and a Tesla Model S Performance, a game changer in the electric car industry. The Tesla Model S Performance can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 2.5 seconds while carrying five occupants in luxury. Now, let’s take a look at some other cars owned by Elon Musk.

1967 Jaguar E-Type Roadster

The first car on the list is special, a 1967 Jaguar E-Type Roadster, a car that still makes enthusiasts drool. Enzo Ferrari himself described the E-Type as “the most beautiful car in the world”. The E-Type was Musk’s childhood dream and when he eventually was in a position to buy one, he chose the model with a 4.2-litre six-cylinder engine that makes 265 horsepower.
1997 McLaren F1

The McLaren F1 still hold the record for being the fastest naturally-aspirated car in the world and the creator, Gordon Murray, had been working on the three-seater layout since 1969 and was eventually able to put it to production with the F1. However, the McLaren F1 was a love-and-hate relationship, as Musk crashed the car, spent a fortune repairing it, and eventually sold it.

There was no other Lotus Esprit that was more famous than Wet Nellie. James Bond’s The Spy Who Loved Me car was transformed into a working movie prop and could transform from a car to a submarine. The car was used only as a submarine in the movie and Musk got his hands on Wet Nellie in 2013 at an auction.
BMW M5 by Hamann Motorsport

Another car that was part of Musk’s collection was the M5 tuned by BMW specialists at Hamann Motorsport. The car saw multiple tweaks and made 600 horsepower, enough to propel the 4-door saloon to a top speed of 200mph or 322kmph. Some reports suggest the inspiration for the Ludicrous mode was from the M5.

Well, the reason that the Tesla Roadster is on the list is because it was the first Tesla on sale and it was built around a Lotus Elise. This particular model, the 2.5 Sport was the most potent version and the car came back to the spotlight in 2018, when it was launched into space with Starman behind the wheel.
