Business Report: Boeing sanctioned by U.S. officials
It's time for business news now with Phil Martino. And Phil, the trouble keeps mounting for Boeing. This is the story that just keeps on giving. This time, the embattled playmaker is being sanctioned by US authorities, and it's for sharing information about a federal investigation into that door plug blowout earlier this year that left a gaping hole And a Boeing 737 Max 9. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, Boeing blatantly violated the agency's investigative regulations. As well as a signed agreement by providing non public investigative information to the media and speculating about possible causes of the January 5th incident on a Boeing passenger jet in Portland. In a statement, Boeing says we apologize to the NTSB and stand ready to answer any questions as the agency continues its investigation. All right, and Amazon has now joined a very exclusive club on Wall Street. Who wouldn't want to be a part of this club? It's very exclusive. Amazon has joined the $2 trillion US club after Wall Street investors pushed the value of its stock past that threshold. Shares in the e-commerce giant finished up almost 4% yesterday, up 2% today. The stock has gained 52% in the past 12 months. Amazon joins Google's parent Alphabet. Microsoft and Apple among companies. Valuations of at least $2 trillion. Wow, a very exclusive club indeed. All right. And Phil, some people say age is nothing but a number, but apparently many US bar and restaurant owners disagree with that statement. Yes. I mean, I wonder if this is going to work. So stateside, some bars and eateries are banning 20 somethings. The auction house in New York's Upper East Side, which opened in 1993, has always had this policy. On Fridays and Saturdays, only patrons 25 and up are allowed in. Owner Johnny B Baroness says. I didn't need a 21 year old to come in with two of his friends to make a ruckus and then get sick in the bathroom. Now, three decades later, he has implemented this at his sister bar, The Backroom. And according to CNN today, plenty of bars and lounges around the US imposed similar, if not even stricter age restrictions, hoping to curb unruly behavior sometimes exhibited by newly legal drinkers. Yeah, I'm surprised they're doing that. I would imagine that would affect business, but I guess it's it's worth it for them. Yes. I mean, I'm just past 25, so I'm OK with it. I would get in. Yeah, me too. All right. Thanks, Phil. That's Phil Martino in the business Center.
