Roosters reward Robinson in milestone match to rock Benji's Tigers back to earth with a thud as tempers flare
Trent Robinson was rewarded with 40 good reasons to celebrate his 300th game in the box seat at the Roosters, watching over an easy Sunday win that brought terrors for the Tigers.
Wests were best in the opening 15 minutes, putting it up to the Tricolours early – but it was all one-way traffic towards Bondi, rounding out the week with a 40-6 victory.
The Tigers were dealt with a tough hand in the second half, without captain Api Koroisau and Adam Doueihi, who were both sin-binned in the second half for separate offences.

Koroisau got done for an above horizontal shot on Lindsay Collins – which was a penalty at best, while Doueihi was sent for a hip-drop tackle on Dom Young.
The tackle was also borderline, with Benji Marshall on the wrong side of the whistle. Sam Walker and Luke Keary pulled the strings from there, linking up with the outside backs to cause chaos.
Joseph Manu was the only scare for the Roosters, who left the field in the 31st minute wth a hand injury. The centre suffered a suspected hand fracture.
“It was disappointing. They did exactly to us what we wanted to do to them,” Benji Marshall said post game.
“They are a really good side and their class showed tonight.”
Marshall didn’t mince his words in regards to the controversial sin-bins, saying there is no consistency.
“To be honest, I’m a little bit confused. Doueihi is one in particular. I don’t know what he’s supposed to do. Sol puts on a good shot and sends him backwards and Doueihi’s just underneath him,” Marshall said.
“Api’s one, could’ve went either way. I thought it was pretty harsh.
“It’s hard to know. It’s a lottery at the moment, and we seem to be on the other end.”
Tedesco, Walker and Keary reign supreme
Dom Young was the first Rooster to pack on the points, scoring from a simple block play that caught out a lazy Jahream Bula, who was plain all night.
The Tedesco and Young combo ran riot all night, with the Chooks captain finishing the game on a whopping 286 run metres.
He broke 11 tackles and was back to his club best. Meanwhile, No.6 and 7 were a complimentary mess, for the Tigers middle and edge.

Both finished with a try assist, but probed the Tigers defence every set. They shared the kicking duties well and blow away the Tigers wing pairing – who were always going to be worse off with a major height mismatch.
Watson was at Origin level once again, cutting the Tigers up through the middle and getting an arm free. Walker sums up the overlap and momentum with ease, finding Dom Young with a cutout. The NSW utility played centre, hooker and lock – proving his versatility and value.
Keary scored a try of his own, a credit to his support play – following up on a Sitilit Tupouniua grubber.
Controversial sin-bins expose Tigers
Two dicey sin-bin calls ruined an already low night for the Tigers. Benji Marshall was visibly frustrated from the bunker and referee Ziggy Przeklasa-Adam’s ruling.
The 20 minute period split Wests in half. Sam Walker went on a right hand blitz, with Dom Young coming out on top.
Combined with the fatigue of the Tigers middle, Marshall was left to sit and stare, it was a tough scene.
Koroisau and Doueihi’s sidelines stint were both penalty offences only. Unfortunately, reviews from the bunker tore apart the on-field decisions.
Both players were placed on report, but with a little common sense, should escape fine and game free.
Mountain top to competition low
A round 16 48-24 thumping of the Tigers gifted the side with a plethora of positive stories and press. But in the space of week, Wests are back to struggle street.
Angus Crichton, Brandon Smith and Terrell May made the side look worn and inexperienced. The Tigers middle was extremely poor.

Brent Naden and Solomona Faataape were largely ineffective. The two backs were constantly pinged for high tackles and failed to make metres with the ball.
Soon to be million-dollar man Stefano Utoikamanu certainly didn’t help his towering price tag to be. The prop made just 54 metres from nine runs and made a clinical handling error during a prime attacking opportunity.
Benji Marshall is back to square one. The Roosters rocked the Tigers back down to earth.
