Arcane Tattoo Studio: Punters stoked with free 50c size tattoos after 6-hour wait
Hundreds of punters waited hours outside an East Perth tattoo parlour on Sunday to score free 50c-size tattoos.
Among those who warped their way around Wellington and Bennett Streets was support worker Francesca Nela, 24, who opted for a Japanese Oni mask on her right upper arm more than 6 hours after joining the queue.
“The tattoo is a little bit creepy, but in a sense, it’s empowering,” she said.
“They are usually expensive... it was a little bit spontaneous.”

After arriving at 8.30 am Ms Nela and her friend made their way through the doors of Arcane Tattoo Studio around 2:30pm.

She said playing UNO with strangers helped the time pass before she was inked.
Kayla Sayer, 28, said despite her getting near the front of the line around 8am, she didn’t score a tattoo until 1:30pm.
“We just made friends in line and chatted with them — it’s all we could really do,” she said.

Ms Sayer got her fourth tattoo on Sunday alongside her sister-in-law, Kelsey Biddlestone.
“We decided that because they were matching, and they were cute, that we would get it,” Ms Sayer said.
“We were at the very top of the line and there were about 300 people before us... when we left it was still wrapping around.

“They opened at 10 and we were literally next door, there were so many people crowded around... I feel bad if people don’t get one.”
She said anyone who may feel hesitant to get tattooed should take the plunge.
“Every tattoo is a memory. I have one on my back that has a mistake, but I am not changing it.”
“We are actually going to get another matching tattoo tomorrow.”
