David Attenborough makes rare public appearance as new Jonathan Yeo portrait unveiled
Sir David Attenborough made a rare public appearance to celebrate the unveiling of a new portrait.
The oil painting, by Jonathan Yeo, marks the veteran broadcaster’s 40 years of fellowship of the Royal Society.
It shows Sir David seated against a green background, looking directly at the viewer with his hands clasped around his knee.
The 98-year-old thanked Yeo for the portrait as it was unveiled on Tuesday 25 June.
In footage broadcast on The One Show, Sir David described the work as “spectacular”.
