Last week, Costner took to social media to confirm that he won't be returning to the beloved Paramount series. I just realized that I'm not going to be able to continue. I. Season 5B or into the future, he told fans the. Came after working on his ongoing western film series Horizon and American Saga for the last year and a half. Costner also shared this message with his fans. I love the relationship we've been able to develop and I'll see you at the movies. While promoting the first film in his Horizon saga over the weekend, Costner spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about departing Yellowstone and moving on from playing John Dutton. You just recently announced that you are officially not coming back to Yellowstone. How tough of a decision was that for you to make? It wasn't tough. It was a necessary decision to say. OK, this is, you know, I don't want to really talk about this anymore. It's time to move on. I gave this thing five seasons. I was really happy to do it and I don't need drama. So let's just take that drama away. Let's take the guessing. The fans have been way too good to me and I my obligation is to go on and continue to make things that that mean something to them. I owe the fans the best movie I can make. If I give up movies and don't want to make any more, that's my business. But if I choose to make movies, I have the fans right on my shoulder. And not to cater to them, but to kind of take them in a direction maybe they didn't even think something could possibly go. So I make them for people. It's not my move anymore. It's it's the fans that that that have supported me. It's for them. Horizon and American Saga Chapter One hits theaters on June 28th. Chapter 2 will be released later this summer on August 16th.
