Uncle Frog’s mushroom gummies: Urgent recall after people hospitalised around Australia, one person in WA
Health authorities say one person presented to a WA hospital recently after consuming Uncle Frog’s Mushroom Gummies – a product recalled by food standards over fears of hallucinations and seizure-like activity.
Both Uncle Frog’s Mushroom Gummies Cordyceps and Lions’s Mane varieties were recalled by Food Standards Australia and New Zealand after multiple people presented to the hospital with symptoms associated with “unexpected symptoms of toxicity” around the country.
People have reported symptoms including, nausea or persistent vomiting, seizures or involuntary movement, anxiety, disturbing hallucinations, drowsiness or loss of consciousness, dizziness and a high heart rate after consuming the gummies.
One person has presented to a WA metropolitan hospital after consuming the gummies, while five people were admitted in NSW.

WA Health Acting Chief Health Officer Dr Paul Armstrong strongly urged people to avoid the product as investigations into the content of the products continue.
“WA Health strongly recommends not consuming these gummies which have the potential to make you seriously ill,” Dr Armstrong said.
“Investigations are still ongoing as to what these products contain.”

The products have been advertised as improving immune people’s immune systems while promoting “overall wellbeing”.
Both of the products have a best-before date of March 21, 2025.
