‘Entirely appropriate’ for PM to call Assange: Penny Wong
Foreign Minister Penny Wong says it was “entirely appropriate” for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to give Julian Assange a call when he landed in Australia.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has returned to Australia as a free man after pleading guilty to espionage in a plea deal to secure his release.
“This is an Australian citizen who has returned home after a long period of incarceration on a matter that the Prime Minister has taken a personal interest in and raised with the President of the United States,” Ms Wong told Sky News Australia.
