After revealing their new logo last week, the Los Angeles Kings have unveiled their new jerseys for the 2024-25 season.
Inspired by the jerseys used through most of the 1990s, often referred to as the 'Gretzky era' the Kings are modernizing an old design.
After being fairly neutral on the new logo, I'm very positive on the new jerseys.
The Kings and their design team knocked it out of the park on these.
A lot of people, myself included, would have preferred a move back to the purple and gold colour scheme, but these black and silvers have come out great.
A big addition that's catching people's eyes are the matte black helmets on the home jerseys.
The Kings loved rolling out the 'chrome domes' in the last few seasons and are going with a unique helmet permanently moving forward.
It's also the first time an NHL team has gone with a matte black helmet permanently.
According to a league release, these jerseys are also fitted with modifications based on player feedback to make them more durable.
Modifications include “an additional layer of fabric inside the lower sleeve to enhance uniform durability intended to reduce material wear from sustained friction against the boards," this enhancement was the direct result of feedback from NHL players and equipment managers as well as, “new shoulder fabrics replacing the debossed pattern fabric used on the shoulders of the prior NHL jersey.”
Kings fans, and fans around the league, have reacted well to this jerseys upon release.
