In the last seven editions of the Wimbledon Championships, there have been seven different champions in the women’s singles tournament.

In the Open Era, there have been 23 different Wimbledon women’s singles champions, while just eight women have won more than one title at the All England Club in this period.

Ahead of the 2024 Championships, we look back at the last seven players to claim lift the Venus Rosewater Dish.

2023 – Marketa Vondrousova

Marketa Vondrousova won her only Grand Slam title to date at Wimbledon in 2023, where she defeated Ons Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 in the final.

The Czech, who was unseeded, also overcame Peyton Stearns, Veronika Kudermetova, Donna Vekic, Marie Bouzkova, Jessica Pegula and Elina Svitolina during her run.

2022 – Elena Rybakina

Elena Rybakina downed Jabeur 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the title match at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships to claim the first and only Major crown of her career so far.

The Kazakh, who was the No 17 seed, also earned victories against Coco Vandeweghe, Bianca Andreescu, Qinwen Zheng, Petra Martic, Ajla Tomljanovic and Simona Halep.

2021 – Ashleigh Barty

In 2021, Ashleigh Barty saw off Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-3 in the Wimbledon final to win the event for the only time and secure the second of her three Grand Slam crowns.

The Australian, who was the top seed as the world No 1, beat Carla Suarez Navarro, Anna Blinkova, Katerina Siniakova, Barbora Krejcikova, Tomljanovic and Angelique Kerber to reach the final.

2019 – Simona Halep

Simona Halep secured her maiden Wimbledon title and second Major crown in 2019, when she crushed Serena Williams 6-2, 6-2 in the championship match.

The Romanian, who was seeded seventh, also earned wins over Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Mikaela Buzarnescu, Victoria Azarenka, Coco Gauff, Zhang Shuai and Svitolina.

2018 – Angelique Kerber

Angelique Kerber claimed her third and most recent Grand Slam, and first Wimbledon crown, with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph against Williams in the final at the All England Club in 2018.

The German, who was the No 11 seed, overcame Vera Zvonareva, Claire Liu, Naomi Osaka, Belinda Bencic, Daria Kasatkina and Jelena Ostapenko during her run.

2017 – Garbine Muguruza

In 2017, Garbine Muguruza defeated Venus Williams 7-5, 6-0 in the Wimbledon title match to win the event for the only time and secure her second Major crown.

The Spaniard, who was seeded 14th, beat Ekaterina Alexandrova, Yanina Wickmayer, Sorana Cirstea, Kerber, Svetlana Kuznetsova, and Magdalena Rybarikova en route to the final.

2016 – Serena Williams

Serena Williams won the 22nd of her 23 Grand Slam singles titles at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships, where she earned a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Kerber in the final.

The American, who was the world No 1 and top seed, also defeated Amra Sadikovic, Christina McHale, Annika Beck, Kuznetsova, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and Elena Vesnina.
