FlySafair to launch Kruger Johannesburg flights

South Africa’s low-cost airline FlySafair will start up scheduled flights between Johannesburg and the Kruger in a little over a month.

These new flights will offer South Africans the opportunity to enjoy weekend getaways to the Kruger National Park and its surrounds.

EXPANSION OF ROUTE NETWORK

The launch of the new services is further expansion for FlySafair, which said earlier this year that it would not be launching any additional routes in 2024.

The local budget carrier previously said that it would focus on its fleet and on reconsolidating existing operations for the remainder of the year.

FLYSAFAIR KRUGER JOHANNESBURG FLIGHTS

FlySafair took to social media to announce the introduction of flights between Johannesburg and the world-famous Kruger National Park.

This is the first time the budget airline will offer scheduled services between the two destinations. The carrier will offer two rotations a week on this route.

FlySafair will service the route on Fridays and Sundays, using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Convenient flight timings will indeed allow travellers to spend weekends in the bush or explore the scenic Mpumalanga Province.

SECOND KRUGER ROUTING

Earlier this year, FlySafair launched direct flights between Cape Town and the Kruger.

Sustainability in the Sky reports that FlySafair launched this route, also called its ‘Wild Route’, on 2 April 2024.

These services cater mainly to tourists travelling between these prime tourist destinations.

FLYSAFAIR BRINGS LOW-COST FARES TO KRUGER

The launch of this new service is good news for tourists and travellers heading to the Kruger National Park.

FlySafair is the only low-cost carrier offering scheduled flights from the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport to Johannesburg and Cape Town.

BOOSTING TOURISM

FlySafair’s new Kruger Johannesburg flights will benefit both the Kruger National Park and other nearby game reserves and lodges, through increased tourist flows.

The airline launched flights to four destinations in neighbouring SADC countries late last year: Harare, Victoria Falls, Livingstone and Maputo.

These services benefit travellers and tourists needing to move between destinations in Southern Africa.

FlySafair has grown significantly over the last ten years, focusing on leisure destinations.

FLYSAFAIR REVIEWS TWO ROUTES

SimpleFlying reports that FlySafair is reviewing two of the routes it currently operates.

The carrier is reviewing its Victoria Falls and Livingstone routes. FlySafair is considering narrowing its focus to just one of these destinations.

The budget airline reportedly wants to increase frequencies between Johannesburg and Harare.

However, this is subject to the airline obtaining regulatory approvals.
