Widespread heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms in B.C.
Well, it's been a week of no rain in Vancouver and that's all about to change this week as the Pacific system tracks across the province, bringing quite a bit of moisture, cooler temperatures and a chance of some embedded thunderstorms. Now this begins for heavy rain on the western coast of Vancouver Island on Wednesday morning and it slowly tracks into the interior. But what happens then is this low pressure system actually stalls over central BC, bringing about that chance for some widespread showers and yes, even a little bit of Alpine snow in the mix. Now we could see upwards of about 30mm for some, in particularly Tofino up to Port Hardy, along the Sea to Sky Highway, up towards Prince George, and even more than that, as we head northeast of Prince George. The interior could see anywhere from about 5 to 20mm. We do have a rain shadow in effect for Malahat to Victoria as well as to Watson, but if you're in the Lower Mainland, expect anywhere from about 5 to 10mm of rain. And I mentioned the chance of some embedded thunderstorms. Now it's not a whole lot of energy and it will be fairly scattered. But there is that slight chance from Wednesday and Thursday for a few scattered thunderstorms along with these widespread showers. And the system is bringing in some very cool temperatures. 12° is the high in Whistler. That's putting it 9° below seasonal for Thursday, 8° below seasonal for Hope. And it's looking like we're tracking into a very unsettled pattern.
